The Northwest Missouri State University football program enjoys national prominence unparalleled at the NCAA’s Division II level.  Head coach Mel Tjeerdsma’s staff has given the Bearcat faithful five national championship appearances over the past 10 years and nine MIAA titles since 1995.  Northwest regularly makes nationally televised appearances and sends many of its players on to successful professional careers.  But the story of Bearcat football began long before ESPN made its first trip to Maryville, MO.  The story includes the names of passionate coaches like E.A.
